Ness’s quality has always been controversial, but a few things are easy to agree upon. He does need some help, and his problems with grab release are very unfair to him.

Those agreeable points are the focus for Ness’s changes for Balanced Brawl. Several of his moves just work a little better, and grab release problems are a thing of the past for him.

What Ness got is perhaps not flashy, but it certainly is effective. Ness should now be able to really compete at the highest levels.

Balanced Brawl Bonus: Defense Down α

  • Ness’s psychic sparkles he generates with his forward aerial, back aerial, and dash attack now do additional shield damage.

Other Major Changes

  • Down throw does more damage.
  • Yo-yos are more reliable.
  • Forward smash does more damage.
  • Pk Fire pillar traps better.
  • Pk Flash does more knockback.
