Link requires a lot of skill to play well in Brawl, but he offers very little reward for doing so. He has few real advantages to make up for his terrible recovery.

This is no longer true. Link can clawshot out of his aerial Spin Attack for that last inch, but that’s not the real story. Both Link’s sword and projectile games received some big boosts, including a very powerful grounded Spin Attack and Arrows.

Link is a substantially stronger character now, and players who have mastered him should be very eager.

Balanced Brawl Bonus: Spinning Clawshot

  • Link can now cancel the latter parts of his aerial Spin Attack with his tether attack. When he uses the tether attack this way, he will enter his helpless fall state if he does not grab the ledge or land on the stage.

Other Major Changes

  • Arrows have more knockback.
  • Forward tilt, down tilt, forward smash 2, forward aerial second hit, and grounded Spin Attack all have more KO potential.
  • Gale Boomerang does 1% more damage.
