Sonic

Sonic’s nothing-but-speed design made him tricky to work with. However, we found some creative tools to let him utilize his speed in problem matchups.

Sonic’s improved down tilt is the most useful advantage and now a great option against spacing-heavy characters. Down aerial can be slowfalled as a mix-up, and some buffs to other moves are quite nice. However, nothing compares to the infamous spring spike!

It’s the second most annoying thing in Brawl; the first is blue and thinks you are too slow.

Balanced Brawl Bonus: Spring Yard Zone

  • Sonic’s spring now spikes enemies straight down.

Other Major Changes

  • Dash attack does more damage.
  • Down tilt revamped; it now hits at a low angle and sometimes trips enemies.
  • Neutral aerial is now always safe on hit.
  • Down aerial now does more damage, can be air controlled, and can be slowfalled (like Mr. Game & Watch’s).
  • Up smash and down throw are now more reliable.
  • Up aerial second hit does 1% more damage.
